Boat Propeller

Boat Propeller

I designed a pair of 50mm diameter propellers for my 3D printed tugboat, but I'm stumped when it comes to calculating their pitch - it's one of those things that always seems to slip my mind. The props are built around a 5mm shaft and have a convenient 5mm nut slot to make installation a breeze. You can check out some action shots on YouTube: [link1] [link2]. I've recently added a few new designs to the mix, including two propellers that measure 40mm in diameter and are geared towards a 3mm shaft. One of these props has three blades while the other boasts four - both have an approximate pitch of around 16mm. The 40mm props were created with the Stan tug 1004 in mind, so be sure to check out some footage of those babies in action on YouTube: [link3] [link4]. Since then, I've managed to add a prop duct and rudder blade to the mix - things are really starting to take shape.
