Here's the game-board for my new moe's low poly adaptation of Monopoly (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2893324). Since our town boasts an excellent fablab (https://www.fablabs.io/labs/map) with a vast array of tools, I decided to create a board that can be made using a laser cutter. The board is designed to fit perfectly into the corresponding storage box: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3047424. IMPORTANT: Before you start this project, ensure that you use materials (wood & acrylic-glass) with a thickness of 5 mm! I used Inkscape (freeware) to create those models and convert them to a format suitable for the lasercutter. You can open the attached .svgz-files using this program. For the lasercutter, you will need the following parts to cut / engrave with a material thickness of 5 mm: 1 x board tags: Engrave the pictures and writing and cut the outer lines. I used acrylic glass for the treasure-chest and question mark. 1 x board bottom: Engrave all the numbers and writing for the streets and cut the outer lines. 1 x board top: Engrave all the pictures and cut the outer lines. I cut the small connectors out of acrylic glass. ASSEMBLING: Here's a short description of how I assembled those parts: • Sand all the wooden parts after they've been cut with the laser-cutter. • Apply a layer of wood stain to the edge parts and some areas underneath where the tags (chest & question mark) are placed. • Use glue to put all the parts together, ensuring that everything is aligned exactly. • Apply 3 layers of clear coat to all the wooden parts and let them dry. Don't hesitate to ask me questions about how to build this box if you're unsure about any part of the description. Big thanks go out to Kurt and his fablab who helped me build this project by teaching me how to use a laser cutter and generate models.
