BN-VH105 dummy battery for JVC GC-XA1/2
thingiverse
I'm extremely impressed by JVC's action cam, particularly its timelapse mode for capturing prints. Unfortunately, my old battery holds very little charge and most prints last longer than it does. To solve this problem, I designed a dummy battery that mimics a fully charged one! This clever hack allows two cables to exit the back of your camera, which can then be connected to a power supply using a DC-DC converter that's easily obtainable from online retailers at an affordable price. Just remember to maintain a constant 3.7 - 3.8v voltage. The design works optimally with stranded wire and low layer heights due to the "nubs" intended for securing the wire in place. If, like me, you're unable to get this to work seamlessly, grab some solid wire and a small drill bit to create the necessary securement points. The grooves on the dummy battery are precision-designed to snugly accommodate 1.2mm external diameter wire. Experiment with different thicknesses around 22AWG to achieve the best results. Keep in mind that using this mod will compromise your camera's water-resistant feature.
