BMW F22 m235i US lower grill shutoff for EU/JP spec
cults3d
This is for someone who put US lower grills on their EU/JP spec cars but want to close the opening on the left side. I personally prefer the simple look of the US grills. However, I drive a EU spec m235i and thus there is nothing behind the grill unlike the US spec cars. (as far as I know, it's same for Japanese spec cars) So I thought it doesn’t make sense to keep it open and designed this shutoff part. I printed it in PETG and have been using it for about a year. The design includes built-in support. So you don't need to add support yourself in the slicer. The orientation for the printing can be found in the picture. This way, you can print it without damaging the surface by support. After the printing, just cut them off like a runner of a plastic model. If you want to have more stable bed adhesion, you may use brim additionally. It can be fixed by 2x tapping screws (DIN 7049) 4.2 x 9.5 or similar. You will need those screws as well as drilling 2x 4.5-5mm holes on the backside of the grill. You may use the printed part as a template to mark the drilling position. I recommend making those holes a little bigger than screws so that the part aligns by its contour, not by the screws. I recommend using some thin double sided tape on the tip (other side of the screw position), as there is not that much anchor shape there.
