BMG Direct Extruder Mount for Hypercube
thingiverse
I got fed up fighting with my bowden extruder on the Hypercube, so I came up with a direct extruder mount for the Bondtech BMG. I stumbled upon a hotend fan mount that integrates a 5015 layer cooling fan in one piece. However, I had to make a minor adjustment for clearance on the BMG, but it remained unchanged otherwise. This design costs me about 5mm in X travel (195mm max) as well as some Z height, but it was worth it for me to eliminate the bowden. This mount also includes an integrated BLTouch mounting point. The offsets are listed below. BLTouch offsets (Z offset is approximate) X 30 Y 0 Z 1.9 I'm revising my stance on this design as of March 24, 2019. I've posted an updated STL for the mount, and the only change was to the BLTouch Z offset. It should now be closer to 1.9mm (it was about 1.4mm). This won't make any difference in functionality. I've also posted a step file of the assembly. Maybe someone will remix this to work with a 4010 blower fan, making the assembly more compact. For cable management, I'm using the cable support from here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2675885. It bolts onto the top of the arm and has a slot for use with a zip tie.
