BMG Direct Drive Adapter for Briss Moto Ender 3 V2 Fang duct
thingiverse
Remix to make a super sturdy direct drive mount using a BMG extruder and 22mm pancake stepper with the Briss Moto Fang duct. Designed around the Ender 3 V2 and the BrissFang 4.3 with a Sunon 4020 parts fan. I made sure this mount was tall enough to accommodate the height adjustment range in the E3v2 BrissFang v4.3. I printed this with a 0.4 nozzle in Overture Electric Blue PETG at 0.16 layers with 5 top/bottom layers and 5 walls/perimeters with at least 40%+ infill. You want this thing as absolutely *strong* as possible otherwise, you *will* end up with it flexing. Once the pancake stepper gets hot after running for a few hours the whole extruder assembly can bow back and forth messing up retractions/detractions. Honestly, you should probably print this thing in ABS if you can. If you're planning on printing with this in an enclosure you will absolutely need to print in ABS/ASA or better. I went through 21 revisions to get to what you see here trying to eliminate all hints of flexing. The foot that extends down to grip the x-carriage is critical for the structural stability of the mount due to the height. The opening between the x-carriage foot and the bottom of the stepper mount should be big enough to route the stepper motor cable through. The metal spacers between the wheels and the carriage should be a very tight fit on purpose (I had to lightly tap mine in with a hammer) as this prevents the whole extruder assembly from wiggling during extrusion or retraction. I sliced using Cura 4.10 with Tree Supports enabled. See the screenshot for how I positioned it. Roughly 88mm for the bowden tube length with the Microswiss clone all-metal hotend I'm using. The only thing I don't like is routing the cables out the back can cause them to rub a bit on the vertical z-rails. I put a velcro cable tie where it contacts the frame to prevent it from chafing through the wire loom or the wires themselves. Seems to work well enough like this but it's worth paying attention to. I have another design I uploaded here to hold and support the cables going to the hotend if you choose to route them through the back like I did. Remix was done in Autodesk MeshMixer. I've included the mix file for anyone who wants to adjust proportions or dimensions. The way I did it is probably a bit hacky but it worked well enough for my needs.
