BLV MGN12 mod X carriage E3D V6 and BLTOUCH
thingiverse
UPDATE: 30.12.19, I upgraded shroud (shroud_a) for part cooling, making it 3mm taller due to switch to volcano. The fusion file is also included for tinkering. Print sideways with no supports needed. Use a water test to find the optimal fan speed that gives the best flow, as mine was between 65-70%. UPDATE: I designed a probe for this design https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3797852 UPDATE: The design has been tested and works perfectly, offering amazing part cooling with a 40/20 part cooler fan. If you have a different hot end height, let me know and I'll release or modify the mod from STEP/fusion files. (NB: My own hotend is an MK9 block with cloned E3D V6 using a MK8 nozzle, which is a few millimeters higher than standard E3D V6. I also have a 50W heating element that's super fast even on a 12V power supply.) I overhauled the design due to requests to claim Z height from radial fans. Now you can use 40/10, 40/20, or even 40/40 for part cooling - it's quite powerful with just 40/10, or stack two fans for an intense air stream. Updated with a new shroud design and cable support. Hotend and thermistor cables should be covered with "thermal shim cotton" to be tightened by a vertical hole, providing thermal insulation in case the cables get hot. Use supports when printing V6 Brace and MGN carrier (supports from build plate only). The Cable Brace has a sacrificial layer so it doesn't need supports. BL Touch distance from nozzle is 30.5 left. The Hot end is attached with 5mm screws with nuts in pockets. Cable brace is attached with 4 mm screws with nut inserts. Fan Adapter is attached to the V6 Brace with a 3mm screw, using "plastic" threads. The hotend cooling fan is also attached with 3mm screws using "plastic" threads. GT2 belt holder is very snug and only works with belts that have fiber enforcement. Polyurethane belts (white ones) with wires won't work with it, as they're too thick. (NOTE: Cabling goes sideways to a cable holder at X motor and is supported by a rubber band. I might design a cable chain for it later, but for now, I'm too lazy.)
