Blurgha - The Beast

I designed Blurgha - The Beast approximately one year ago as a creative exercise to envision a creature thriving in swampy, muddy environments. My goal was to craft an animal that navigates these areas by dragging its elongated body across the slippery slopes of the swamp with minimal use of its vestigial lower feet. Blurgha is a straightforward creature driven by basic instincts - feeding, sleeping, and aging - devoid of malice or intent. Its actions are guided solely by mindless consumption, fueled by an insatiable appetite that knows no contempt. As a seasoned creature artist in the gaming industry, I transformed Blurgha into a production-ready model, meticulously texturing and retopologizing it to ensure seamless real-time performance within game engines. The final result is evident in the vibrant colored renders. My friend Perry Leijten generously offered to 3D print my design, allowing me to experience firsthand the tangible sensation of holding a physical representation of my digital creation. This encounter has solidified my determination to fully integrate 3D printing into my workflow and prioritize it for future projects once I acquire a printer that fits my budget.
