BluRay Antweight Robot

This is Blu-Ray, my 1lb antweight combat robot. It has competed in both plastic and full combat antweight competitions. It won first place going 8-1 at the Hill City Robot Combat event in the antweight class. The design is very low to the ground making it hard to attack for most spinners. The lifter doubles as a self righting mechanism. The biggest weakness so far has been just how thin the top plate is in the center. If you decide to build and enter this bot in a competition please give it a unique name! Being a very compact robot, wiring can be complicated. The battery fits on the same side as the switch, and the esc fits on the other side. Wires do run under the servo horn, but as long as they are kept neat, it has not been an issue yet. In order to complete this build, you will also need the internals: Drive motors - 16mm gear motors https://www.botkits.com/collections/all-products/products/four-battle-hardened-motors Wheels - Fingertech 1 x 0.5 in foam wheels https://itgresa.com/product/snap-wheels/ Wheel Hubs - You can either purchase the fingertech hubs, or for a cheaper and lighter option print your own https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3955183 Electronics - Malenki nano. This works as both your radio receiver and drive motor esc. It works with the AFHDS 2A protocol common in flysky radios https://itgresa.com/product/malenki-nano-dual-esc-and-receiver/ Radio - You can use any radio compatible with the AFHDS 2A protocol. The flysky FS-i6 is one of the most common beginner radios. Servo - The servo you pick will depend on what battery you intend to use. With a 2s lipo battery, you can use almost any standard rc servo with at least 270 degree rotation. https://a.co/d/9wBsxs5 A 25kg servo will be more than strong enough. These same servos are available from many different sellers for many different prices. I would be sure to price shop them. IF you plan to run a 3s battery, you will need to find a high voltage servo that is the same form factor. The benefit of 3s over 2s is faster drive. A high voltage servo will also require special wiring, which will take up more space. Battery - A small battery is plenty to last a 3 minute fight. https://itgresa.com/product/galaxy-180mah-2s-lipoly-pack/ IF planning to attempt 3s https://itgresa.com/product/galaxy-180mah-3s-lipoly-pack/ Power Switch - Fingertech mini power switch https://itgresa.com/product/mini-power-switch/ Power Light - 3mm led. Be sure it is rated for the voltage. You can find all different colors and anything from a single one to a pack of 500 https://a.co/d/0ght3HX Attempting 3s makes the bot overall heavier, and more complicated. So be prepared. Soldering is required to get all the parts together. If you need instructions for the wiring, check the information included with the malenki nano. Be sure the switch disconnects the battery and power led properly when in the off position. The servo will need to be powered on and put in position before attaching the servo horn to ensure the lifter sits on the floor when fully down. I have also managed to use the servo stretcher feature on the malenki nano to make a 180 degree servo work, but your results may vary.
