Blunt Occipital Bone Trauma

sketchfab

The single specimen is comprised mainly of portions from both the right posterior parietal and occipital bones. Additionally, there is a small portion from the left posterior parietal bone present as well. A segment of the lambdoidal suture can be seen, along with a small part of the sagittal suture. Several Wormian bones are visible on the right side of the lambdoidal suture. In the ectocranial posterior right parietal region, a large hinged fracture is located - the hinge point is at the right lambdoidal suture. The fracture measures approximately 50mm in diameter and is significantly depressed anterolaterally. Extensive comminution can be observed, particularly opposite the hinge point.
