Bluetooth 3D Printed headphones
thingiverse
I chose to print the cups in orange PETG simply because I had it on hand and I really like the color. The headband, however, is made from Hatchbox PLA Grey. I drew inspiration from the BLV printer's use of carbon fiber stickers and thought they would add a touch that makes the bright orange color stand out even more, giving ear protection a stylish makeover. I was impressed by the original headphones I remixed this project from - I actually created a pair for my son after he broke a store-bought pair during the holidays. However, I decided to remix the headband and baffle parts into a pair of Bluetooth-enabled headphones that I could use myself. To do so, I chose to repurpose the cup from the original design to accommodate a stereo Bluetooth adapter I found on Amazon. Initially, I had planned to take apart the adapter and solder the speaker drivers directly to it, which would have given me the opportunity to add a larger battery and even Neo Pixels on the sides. However, I ended up simply reusing an old pair of earbuds instead. On March 11th, '19, I added all the STL files used to print this project to make them easily accessible for others who may be interested in creating their own custom headphones.
