BlueSCSI 1.1a Macintosh SE Expansion Bracket

This bracket mounts your BlueSCSI 1.1a inside your Macintosh SE or SE/30. The microSD card remains accessible from the outside of the machine, and a light pipe helps you see what the status of the BlueSCSI is. Indicators on the bracket help you remember what the blink codes mean on the BlueSCSI, just in case you encounter a problem.

The bracket also has screw "storage" holes, so if you remove the original, dying SCSI drive form the machine, you can install the original hard drive mounting screws to the BlueSCSI bracket to the machine. That way, if you find an Asante Maccon network card, or maybe a fabled Micron Xceed videocard (wouldn't that be something), and you need to move the BlueSCSI to the old hard drive bay to make room in the expansion slot, the original screws are still with the machine.

The microSD card can be a bit challenging to get out with your bare hands. If you experience difficulty, try using some tweezers to remove it. I have no problem installing the microSD card by hand, and this bracket is certainly easier than taking apart your Mac to swap cards.

The light pipe simply press fits into place.

Where can I buy one?

Of course, you're welcome to print your own, but if you don't have a 3D printer, you can purchase a bracket on my Etsy store.

Compatibility

Works in the Macintosh SE, Macintosh SE FDHD/SuperDrive, and Macintosh SE/30.

Printing

I recommend printing the bracket in PETG. The light pipe can be printed in clear PLA, or clear PETG.

Parts

To install the bracket, you will need:

A BlueSCSI 1.1a

Two M3 nuts

Two M3 screws (at least 8mm)

Two M2.5 x 5 screws

Change Log

1.0

Initial release

1.1

Made the light pipe narrower to accommodate Bluepills with a vertically-installed programming header

Moved the light pipe slightly further from the microSD card slot to improve fitment with Bluepills with vertically-installed programming headers

Created a void underneath the Bluepill pins, so you don't have to trim off the Bluepill pins on the bottom of the BlueSCSI for everything to fit in the bracket

Increased the height of the microSD card slot

Removed the 1.0 models from Prusa Printers
