Blue Nude III - Henri Matisse
thingiverse
The Blue Nudes are a significant group of Henri Matisse's final works, executed in 1952 using gouaches découpés, which depict female nudes either seated or standing. This series is remarkable as it represents Matisse's transition from painting to paper cutouts due to his health issues in the early-to-mid-1940s. The color blue was significant for Matisse as he believed it symbolized distance and volume, and he initially used solid blocks of single colors in his works. His inspiration for Blue Nudes came from his collection of African sculpture and a visit to Tahiti in 1930. After an operation that left him incapacitated, he finally synthesized these influences into this iconic series.
