BLTouch Mount for PrintRite DIY 3D Printer
thingiverse
This is a simple mount for a BLTouch Bed Level Sensor that enhances a PrintRite DIY 3D Printer's performance. It securely attaches to the right side of the extruder carriage using the heatsink and allows the BLtouch to hang down below it. To print this mount, use small tabs on the print bed and a large mounting tab with three holes pointing straight up. Shape down the two small tabs with a file or sandpaper so they fit snugly into the fins of the heatsink. Secure them with a small sheet metal screw that bites between the heatsink fins. Keep in mind that this mount reduces the print area by about 8-10mm to the right, so be aware of this adjustment. This upgrade, combined with a PEI sheet on my heated bed, has been one of the most effective improvements I've made to my PrintRite. The BLTouch eliminates the hassle of adjusting the Z-Axis endstop before every print. My first layer failure rate decreased from about 40% to almost 0%. When searching for suitable wire for the BLTouch, consider using multi-conductor, thin, and flexible cable cut from old PS/2 mice. These mice often have six conductors, unlike USB mice with only four. Note: Don't ask me for help installing a BLTouch with the provided firmware or control board. I've switched to a SmoothieBoard clone and won't be going back. The BLTouch should work with most control boards based on an Arduino Mega running Marlin (RAMBo, etc.) or Smoothie boards.
