It could work with any kinds of bed materials, such as glasses, woods, metals, and so on.

I has:-

Self-test : The push pin operates itself three times to test when the power is on.

Alarm : The LED light blinks if a problem found on a self-test or on an operation.

BLTouch consists of Atmel ATtiny13A, solenoid, and a push pin.

High-precision Type Sensor : Using Hall Effect

➡ Not optical, either proximity(inductive or capacitive) one. The BLTouch needs to be set at 8.3mm (+/-0.2) above the nozzle. I believe the newer Smart BL Touch has a 8.5mm distance, from shoulder to tip of probe.

This simple 3D Printable gauge should help you achieve this.

Remember that this BLTouch gauge block will need to be set onto a sheet of paper, (the distance of the nozzle tip above the print bed.

I do not own or have a BLTouch so I have not been able to test this BLTouch gauge block in a real world situation.

20% infill is OK with 4 layers top to prevent any infill bumps passing through to the top surface.

A light sanding to smooth the top could help, but keep checking the height of the BLTouch gauge block.

Print Settings

Printer:

Protomaker Black Sprint Original 3D Printer

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.2 or better

Infill:

20%

Notes:

4 Layers on the top
Untested in the real world.
Post-Printing

Light sanding to smooth surfaces

Light sanding to smooth surfaces

Keep a checking on the height of the BLTouch gauge block it should be 8.3mm (+/-0.2)

How I Designed This

TinkerCAD

I used TinkerCAD

Custom Section

Allow for height of the nozzle from the print bed

Remember that this BLTouch gauge block will need to be set onto a sheet of paper, (the distance of the nozzle tip above the print bed.

Category: 3D Printer Accessories
