Bloxen, Bramble

The dryads fiercely protect the remnants of their sacred glades, surpassing human passion in every way. -Qie Zi, The Art of Seej For years, I've envisioned creating a model that would prove nearly impossible to manufacture using conventional methods. Most other bloxen designs I've created could theoretically be sculpted, injection-molded, or cast, but I'm convinced it would be extremely challenging to achieve any of those processes for the Bramble Bloxen. I also aimed to push the limits of my FDM printers' capabilities. I deliberately designed the model with internal supports and minimal overhangs, although I suspect a few errant vines exceeding 45 degrees may have slipped past me in the intricate design. Kestenbaum the squirrel sits regally atop a half-buried skull, while other Easter Eggs are discreetly concealed within the dense thicket. Download the model and explore its geometry for yourself, or view screenshots from the modeling process. Printing with high infill and/or at least two shells is strongly recommended to ensure strength, as a nozzle snagging the top layer of a vine during printing could cause it to break off. The intricate tenons at the top of this deliberately complex bloxen are designed to interlock seamlessly with other Seej-standard models. Notorious stagecraft alert: the bloxen in this photo has been printed at 200% scale. I'm holding out for a next-generation FDM printer before attempting to print it at full size again.
