Blown Wades Extruder v2.4
thingiverse
On November 8th, 2013, an updated version of the popular Wades Extruder was released. This new design is based on previous versions known as "Blown Wades" (#129432). The primary change involves moving the fan away from the stepper motor to increase airflow towards the nozzle. A 40mm fan is used to direct air downwards, cooling both the print and the extruder stepper simultaneously. This modification works with custom Skuehling X and Budaschnozzle X carriages, as well as any Wades Idler. To maintain original Wades dimensions, no print area is lost. Modifications for J-head and other hot ends can be made upon request. Drilling for 3mm filament is also an easy process. The Skuehling Guidler is recommended for use with this extruder, along with Herringbone Gears (both included). The GroovemountBase serves as a template for creating wooden isolators using laser or hand tools, with Home Depot paint sticks suggested. The design was created using PTC Creo Elements and prints at .3mm layer height. This updated version addresses the center weakness issue in previous designs. Assemble it like any other Wades extruder but use this nozzle and X carriage design.
