Bloodshot was born in 1992 by Kevin VanHook and Yvel Guichet, right at the peak of Valiant Universe's immense popularity. The character quickly captured readers' hearts, with its debut issue landing a stellar number 4 spot on Diamond Comic Distributors' Top 100 for November 1992.[1] Bloodshot was one of the most beloved Valiant characters, raking in millions of copies until Acclaim Entertainment swooped in and purchased Valiant for $65 million. The Bloodshot comics were translated into numerous languages, including German, Italian, Spanish, Norwegian, Filipino, and Chinese, among others. In 1996, Bloodshot and a majority of other Valiant Universe characters were rebooted under the Acclaim Comics banner. This fresh start allowed the title to shift towards video game adaptations. Today, Valiant Entertainment proudly owns the Valiant Character Catalog, including Bloodshot. A brand-new volume of Bloodshot hit shelves in July 2012, penned by Duane Swierczynski as part of Valiant Comics' relaunch.
