Bloodreaver Scythe

In lifeless states, some undead knights discover a unique affinity for the flesh and marrow of the living. They slash into their foes, sustaining themselves with lethal crimson strikes, while employing the bloody, shattered remnants of the dead to strengthen their own fortifications. These blood-soaked warriors bend the very principles of mortality to control the frontline trenches of the battlefield. The scythe of the undead knight Bloodreaver Gul’dan from Hearthstone game by Blizzard serves as a striking reference point. Awesome art by Alex Horley Orlandelli was used as a visual guide. Low-poly modeling in Maya laid the groundwork, followed by sculpting in ZBrush and retopology in Maya. Textures were painted in Substance Painter using a combination of hand-painting and textures generated from baked normal maps.
