Blood vane style fletching
thingiverse
I made some new fletching because I needed more instead of buying them. The opening is 8mm and fits snugly around my 7mm arrow shafts. I'm trying out different vane types, twists, styles and will post them here too, including larger and smaller cylinder types. I've tested these at a 65-pound draw weight from 40 yards and they are pretty accurate with a small amount of tail whip. That's something I'm working on reducing in the design but overall my arrows stay on target. I added a photo. I printed out a draft resolution glow-in-the-dark fletching and it turned out great. UPDATE! I opened up the cylinder to 8.5mm so that it fits better and added some glue ports. That way you can superglue the fletching to the arrow shaft if you need to, just like the Outer Limits Blood Vane does. I made a new file for this updated version. You'll need to download it instead of using the old one. If you've already printed the old file and had some fitting issues, this new one might help with that. Let me know in the comments if there's any trouble. Thanks to all who liked and downloaded this. This is my first creation and it's pretty cool to see it out in the world. Instructions: You can print this with no supports depending on your printer. Try printing it vertically with the larger part of the vanes up.
