BlocksCAD is a free online software created to teach students coding and Computer Aided Design skills. Using BlocksCAD, students will design a 3D Shoelace Badge by combining shapes, text, translate, and difference operations. This process exposes students to computational thinking as they construct something they can 3D print. Note: To ensure the shoelace badge prints correctly, students should use the Sardos Stencil font, as non-stencil fonts may result in floating sections that fall out after printing. Additionally, ensure that the solid shape is at least 2mm thick to prevent it from being too thin. The Shoelace Badge Activity is best suited for 3rd-6th grade students with basic BlocksCAD experience.
