My goal is to revolutionize the Prusa i3 by turning it into a multi-tool with minimal modifications and optimized printable components. Originally designed for the 4mm thick bed of the Prusa i3 P802M/MA, this system can also fit on other printers. To hold a material firmly in place on the printer bed, we need a reliable fixation system. The challenge with the Prusa i3 is that there's limited space around the moving bed to accommodate any system. If you want to repurpose your printer as a CNC plotter, miller, laser engraver, or extruder for another material and/or at greater heights on the bed, you'll need stable, snug, and precise fixation. BlockOnBed is here! Optimized for 20cm x 20cm x 20cm print areas, this system fits just outside these dimensions to preserve print/work surface. A centimeter ruler is printed at bed level for easy measurement. The fixations consist of two pieces: a stationary part and a mobile insert that fits into guides above the new material on the printer bed. These two parts are secured tightly with 5mm or 3mm screws and nuts. Due to the limited space available, it's essential to use the strongest possible material for BlockOnBed. Fortunately, Fiber Force offers their new Carbon Fiber Filament, which provides the perfect solution. Printed using this advanced filament, BlockOnBed is designed to deliver exceptional strength and performance.
