Block Plane

Block Plane

I discovered blueprints online (courtesy of Bruce Matthews) for a precision block plane that leverages a razor blade. I've long wanted to create something akin to this, but this design took all the legwork out of it! I drilled a hole for a 4-40 x 3/8 screw, although you can adjust it to whatever size fits your needs. The adjuster holes have been modified from circles (as seen in the photo) to diamonds to print more clearly in the orientation I've uploaded. It prints without supports, but I recommend using a brim for added security. The razor should be adjusted to just barely pierce the slot. With mine, I've successfully shaved plastic, cardboard, balsa, and poplar. This is an excellent hobby and craft plane! Enjoy!
