Block and Tackle Pulleys 2.0
thingiverse
After discovering SteveWall's Block and Tackle Pulleys, I became intrigued and began investigating various versions. The most interesting one I found was from a boating catalog, featuring three sheaves that formed a spiral rope pattern and included a lock for added functionality. Drawing inspiration from the hook in SteveWall's design, I made some adjustments to create my own version. However, I have concerns about the strength of ABS axles for heavy work; screws may be more suitable. Additionally, my nylon rope is quite slick, causing issues with the lock mechanism. To resolve this, I plan to test a cotton rope and if it fails, redesign the lock accordingly. Assembling the parts involves building one block and tackle outside each, along with five new sheaves, one small and one stop sheave, as well as two hooks. Follow the photos for guidance on assembly; I used 4mm x 3/4 inch (19mm) bolts with nuts to secure everything in place.
