Blink XT + XT2 Mounting Bracket System
thingiverse
The original mounting piece that comes with the Blink XT camera system falls woefully short of expectations. It's extremely fragile, severely limited in adjustability due to its single hinge axis and proximity to the wall, and prone to detaching from the camera entirely. Furthermore, replacing the batteries often throws off the camera's aiming accuracy. This design is specifically intended to rectify all those issues. This innovative design seamlessly accommodates both the XT and XT2 cameras. Two mounting options are provided - one for flat installation on walls, and another designed for corners. The height measures 26mm to allow for effortless use of 1" mounting tape without any trimming necessary. Additionally, you can securely screw the flat mount directly into the wall. The Body Bracket (1) connects to the Ball Arm (2) using two #6 pan head wood screws approximately 1" in length. The Ball Arm (2) does not fit directly into the Wall or Corner Mounts as expected. Instead, you must turn it sideways and then twist it 90° (so that the flat side is facing down) to securely lock the ball in place within the mount. The flat Ball Sockets (3) connect to the Siding Mount (4) using a #6 pan head machine screw and a matching nut captured on the back of the Siding Mount. This clever design allows you to hang cameras directly from vinyl siding. The Ball Socket 45 offers even greater flexibility, enabling you to turn the camera further against the wall. To mount the camera on vinyl siding, you will require a siding removal tool (I personally utilize one manufactured by Malco) to separate the siding. Then, attach the siding mount underneath the siding as depicted in the accompanying picture, and snap the siding back into place. DarkModulus is deserving of gratitude for correcting one of the STL models. Update: 2019-09-04 - All model files have been updated. The naming convention has been revised to facilitate easier sorting and organization. You will need at least one of the following: 1, 2, or 3. However, if you're planning to hang it from your vinyl siding, you'll require the additional 4. The updated Body Bracket (1) now accommodates both the XT and XT2 cameras with seamless precision. A new 45° ball socket has been incorporated for mounting at more extreme angles.
