Blinds Bottom Bracket

Blinds Bottom Bracket

This is a custom bracket designed to replace broken ones on blinds for French doors. The bottom bar of the blinds has a hole that allows the pin on this bracket to slot in securely, and the bracket itself is screwed to the door using #8 machine screws. The purpose of the bracket is to keep the bottom end of the blinds from flailing about when opening or closing the door. The original brackets were made of polycarbonate material but cracked over time around the screw holes, eventually breaking. Since I couldn't find matching replacements, I created this custom bracket instead. After searching through similar brackets at Lowe's and Home Depot, I found that none had an exact match, so I decided to design one myself. One key change I made to this bracket compared to the original is its slightly thicker build. Additionally, I moved the pin further away from the screw holes to prevent the blinds from catching on the screw heads when closing them, which would cause them to stick. This added clearance fixed that issue entirely. I've included the OpenSCAD file for anyone who has a similar but different bracket they'd like to modify. Since this is only my third project using OpenSCAD, my modeling approach and organization may not be ideal, but it still works effectively.
