<h2>Spool Holder Design Uses Blind Rivets or 1.75mm Filaments as Axles</h2> This spool holder design is specifically tailored for the Geeetech I3 Pro B with an Acrylic 8mm frame. Although numerous spool holder designs exist, this particular one stands out by not utilizing ball-bearings, which are commonly used in most designs. Instead, it employs blind rivets as bushings and features an axle that can be either a rivet mandrel or a piece of 1.75mm filament (PLA, ABS, etc.). The rivets are more accessible than ball-bearings and significantly cheaper. A box containing six different types of rivets and 320 in total can be acquired for approximately $3. The rivet itself functions as a bushing, while the mandrel or stem serves as the axle. For added flexibility, 1.75mm PLA or ABS filament can be used as an axle provided that the force exerted on it remains below its breaking point. In terms of composition, the rivet is typically made from aluminum, whereas the mandrel or stem is usually crafted from steel. The spool holder itself was designed to seamlessly fit the Geeetech I3 Pro B featuring an acrylic 8mm frame. The spool holder arms measure 48mm in length. All parts were meticulously designed using FreeCAD and are engineered to compensate for the XY expansion/shrinkage of your printer. This parameter can be adjusted according to your specific needs within the FreeCAD project files. Simply modify the value, regenerate the parts, and you're good to go! The design incorporates a 0.2mm XY expansion/shrinkage value, which was determined after printing my M3 bolt & nut calibration model and comparing it with an actual M3 nut and bolt.
