Blind Dog Bumper Adapter for Harness
thingiverse
We recently acquired a Welsh Corgi that's losing his sight. Buying a bumper can be quite expensive, but with a 3D printer, you can create one yourself, just like the shops do. Right now, I'm printing it using PC+ABS material since I have some leftover stock and it might be more suitable than ABS or PLA for this purpose. The design files are available if you need to modify them to fit your dog's specific needs. Our Corgi weighs around 16KG, so the attached Freecad designs should work well. The bumper itself will weigh approximately 160 grams and cost virtually nothing if you print it yourself. In fact, buying a printer and printing one might be more cost-effective than purchasing from a shop! I've set the shell thickness to 3mm to see how it holds up. The ring (Halo) connects to the pin (adapter / Halo to Harness Adapter) with an M5 screw and simply sticks into the harness adapter's hole, allowing you to easily remove it if needed. The harness adapter is connected to the Julius K9 harness using M5 tapered screws, and the inserts in the harness adapter provide extra security. You'll need to drill two holes into your Julius K9 harness, but they'll be covered by a name sticker if you remove the bumper. I hope these files will help dog owners save money and make their pets' lives better. Happy printing!
