Blenheim Mk IV with Retractable Gear
thingiverse
The Blenheim Mk. IV played a crucial role for the Royal Air Force during the intense Battle of London. This highly accurate replica model is made from original diagrams, with some minor liberties taken (such as the wheel carriage) to enable 3D printing capabilities. The retractable wheels are easily managed using a print-in-place hinge. The propellers spin freely, just like both gun turrets. Printer Settings Brand: RepRap Model: Mendelmax 1.5 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 30% To assemble the complete model, you will need to print these separate parts: 1x Fuselage 1x Fuselage (Mirrored) 1x Engine 1x Engine (Mirrored) 1x Gun Pod 1x Front Gun 2x Gear 2x Axle 2x Wheel Post-Assembly After printing all the parts, I used super glue to assemble them. The gun pod should fit snugly between the two halves of the airplane, and so does the front gun. The propeller blades simply snap into the holes inside the engines. Push the gear into the square slot on the bottom of the engines and secure with glue. Do the same for the axles, which go into the slot in the gear. Finally, push the wheels between the prongs of the axle piece. The entire engine assembly then snaps onto the wing, and can be glued in place. To avoid any mistakes, be careful not to glue the guns to the fuselage; I used a liberal amount of super glue in a scribble pattern between the two halves of the airplane, especially near the edges and avoiding the parts near the gun pods. Finally, tie a small piece of string between the pole on top of the fuselage and glue it to the end of the tail with a bit of super glue. Then, paint to your liking and enjoy bombing your desktops!
