Hello! Blender is a program I'm still getting used to. But every time I upload a custom drink coaster, I use it without issue. You can learn more about this powerful tool through my tutorials on designing drink coasters. They'll give you a glimpse into how I work with Blender. I haven't printed these designs yet, but I've previewed them in my slicer and seen no problems with the level of detail. This is something I always recommend doing before starting your print - it can save time and headaches down the line. Feel free to print this coaster using any filament or resin you like, whether it's single-color or multi-colored. If you do decide to print it, I'd love to see what you come up with! Don't worry if you don't want to share a picture of your print - your discretion is totally fine by me. This coaster is designed to be used as is, holding your favorite drink in place. The design specifications are standard: 100mm x 100mm x 5mm, making it compatible with my coaster holder. Design Process I started by selecting a logo from my browser and converting it into an SVG file using Inkscape. Next, I imported the SVG into Blender and turned it into a 3D object. To clean up any errors or imperfections, I used Meshmixer to repair the file and remove unwanted details. After that, I added a coaster design on top of the logo, scaled it down to size, and merged the two models together. To create the negative model for the coaster, I used 123Design's subtraction feature to carve out the design from a standard drink coaster STL file. Once that was done, I saved the file as an STL and sliced it for printing. However, despite repairing the model in Meshmixer, it still had some issues - so I decided to export it into Netfabb Online Service instead. Netfabb Online Service is a tool I recently discovered after getting frustrated with MakePrintable's limited features. While MakePrintable only offers three STL fix procedures, Netfabb gives you unlimited options - and it worked perfectly for me! With the help of this app, I was able to slice the model without any problems.
