BLDC Generator with Serpentine Coil - Improved
thingiverse
This is a remix of TNT's BLDC generator with Serpentine Coil. I found the body was too short by 7mm and the spacers were too long. You need two spacers that fit on the axle above and below the magnet holder to center the magnets in the coil holder and avoid any play axially. The fins of the coil holder were about half a millimeter too long for a good fit. I added some small fillets to the coil holder fins too for improved strength. Also fixed some of the faceting that Robert is including from Tinkercad by recreating it in Fusion360. The "cap.stl", "gear.stl", and "Magnet Carrier.stl" are from Robert's original project. The entire thing fits together perfectly for me with these improved parts. Having recreated this in Fusion360, I can also envision a parametric model that would take as inputs the number of magnets, magnet dimensions, wire dimensions, preferred size, number of turns, etc., to produce a generator model in this style for any desired parts. I may create this in OpenSCAD but leave it as an exercise to the reader for now.
