Blast Gate/Valve and Dust Collection System with Magnetic Connectors [Customizable]
thingiverse
For my compact woodworking shop, I had to utilize multiple dust collection ports for various tools, so a swift and effortless connection and disconnection was essential. Regular blast gates were readily available, but no intelligent solution existed to tackle this problem, prompting me to design it entirely from scratch. The primary blast gate design is not revolutionary, but I did introduce some minor enhancements. To prevent the radius from diminishing when the gate is open, I simply incorporated a gap for the stop pin. The blast gate comprises four distinct components, with part five serving as the connector for the blast gate. Part five can also be used to join two pipes together seamlessly. To facilitate rapid connection and disconnection, I embedded magnets within the front port. I highly recommend utilizing 10x3 (or 10x5) N52 magnets, such as those available on AliExpress at https://aliexpress.com/item/32871931513.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.11b44c4dokk8cs. This design is fully customizable, eliminating the need to resize or remix other designs found here on Thingiverse. The source code is thoroughly commented to facilitate understanding. If you have any queries, please don't hesitate to ask. I invite you to post a make or remix and enjoy the process!
