Blank 1911 Grips
thingiverse
*Let's start out with the why.* [Printedfirearm's blank grips](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:610087) have been around since 2014, and during the height of Thingiverse's popularity in the community it became the basis for many remixes. The problem is they're wrong - they're missing the plunger tube cut, and the mag catch cut seems to be fit for one specific manufacturer's specification. They have the additional shortcoming of lacking a cutout for a Taurus-style ambidextrous safety lever, but that isn't a strict requirement. *Now for the how.* These grips were re-modeled based on Rio Benson's M1911-A1 Redux drawing package, with an added ambidextrous safety cut [based on Ribze's work](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3842161). I also took some liberties so the typical shrinking from FDM wouldn't cause problems, and I made the mag catch cut a little larger because of what I saw during initial fit testing. The .f3d file is included, although these aren't the hardest things to model. I've test-fit these on an RIA, but I hope you'll forgive the omission of a photo to prove it. Refer to [the grips in this thing](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3091654/) for checkered grips. I can't believe some madman actually did it.
