Blanche of Castile (March 4, 1188 – November 27, 1252) served as Queen of France after marrying Louis VIII. As the wife of Louis VIII, she took on a key role as regent twice during her son's reign, Louis IX. Born in Palencia, Spain in 1188, Blanche was the third daughter of Alfonso VIII, King of Castile, and Eleanor of England. Her mother, Eleanor, was a daughter of Henry II of England and Eleanor of Aquitaine. This object is part of "Scan The World".
