Blake's 7 Liberator Handgun

Blake's 7 Liberator Handgun

thingiverse

My impression of the iconic energy weapon from the Liberator spaceship in the classic British Sci-Fi series Blake's 7. This isn't an exact replica created by meticulous measurements from snowy VHS on freeze-frame, it's just roughed out with my own eyes. Designed at about 1/5 scale - scaling up to 0.83x gets you a 1/6 scale perfect for Barbie dolls and similar toys. Be warned though, this tiny version might be fragile or tricky to print. The barrel has been test-printed with a threaded end for my interchangeable barrel transformers gun. The handle prints fine - if you find the Tinkercad model, note that the assembled gun there has a different handle which doesn't work well and a different handle connector that will only print perfectly scaled up or at higher resolution than usual. Print the handle in black and the "energy rod" part clear, then coat the rod section with clear laquer to make it look more transparent. I tried out various styles of 100% infill for the barrel including all-perimeter - it didn't make a big difference in transparency but seemed to weaken it a bit. I've included a 2mm diameter hole into the back of the barrel which can accept a length of 1.75mm filament as reinforcement. You could also fit this tiny LED with a battery box from outside, add sound effects if you're feeling adventurous and maybe craft a holster and Cally outfit for Barbie...
