Blaise Castle

Blaise Castle

I'm thrilled that my friend Rich used his drone in Bristol, UK to scan a massive 22m 3D image. He then sent it over and I successfully scaled it down using Slic3r to fit on my Reprap. As it turns out, the base of the castle was wonky so I trimmed it off, leaving just the castle itself. If everything goes smoothly, I'll add some neater STL - we'll see how that works out. I've also included an image of what happens when you try to print something too large for a Reprap - no warnings whatsoever! In fact, the z-axis completely detached itself! A little bit about STL: version 2011 is the original scanned 22m STL file - I loaded it into Slic3r and let it scale down automatically to fit the plate. Unfortunately, it didn't quite make it onto the roof. Version 1545 is a scaled-down version that I reloaded and scaled 50% - it's printing right now! And then there's version wbase, which has a base added - for some reason, this one comes up full of holes when loaded to Slic3r.
