Bladeless 120mm honeycomb fan
cults3d
I'm currently working on a remix of a blade-less fan for 120mm PC fans. You can check out my design on Thingiverse at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1645081. To be honest, I've had some mixed results with this project. My first attempt using a 120mm 12V 0.1A DC motor wasn't very promising. The airflow was unsteady and didn't produce enough breeze for my needs. On the other hand, it was extremely quiet at 1500RPM, but that's not really what I'm looking for in a fan. I also tried using a 120mm TurboFan model, which had decent airflow, but unfortunately, it was way too loud. I couldn't have a fan on my office desk that sounded like a jet engine taking off, so that wasn't an option for me. So, I decided to design a fan with the inner shroud easily removable. By doing this, the original super silent fan can now give you more widely distributed airflow if used without its inner part. In the end, my silent fan doesn't amplify flow, but it's still a nice addition to have on my desk.
