We picked up the Shun DM7300 kitchen shears after they were highly touted by Cook's Illustrated/America's Test Kitchen enthusiasts. Being stored in a drawer, it made sense to add some protection for the blades. Unfortunately, they didn't come with any sort of cover or guard, so I quickly sketched out a design. Printed a prototype and was impressed to see how accurately the blade shape mirrored an elliptical curve. The fit is snug, with just a hint of interference, making it unlikely to slip off.
