Human: "Beware the black blade's deceit. It will not obey your control." Continuing from the previous Warcraft-related projects and with the Legion expansion looming on the horizon, I began working on some of the upcoming artifact weapons. Therefore, I present the first one I have completed now: Xal'atath, Blade of the Black Empire and its off-hand complement Secrets of the Void. This was also the first prop weapon I attempted to create in "real size," so it had to be either scaled down or divided into multiple pieces (like I did) to fit a standard print bed. The in-game lighting for this would be purple, but since purple LEDs are extremely dim, I compromised on a more blue tone. Batteries (2xAA) fit inside the handle, which can be twisted and removed from its place to replace them. There is also a slot for a power switch on the side of the upper part of the handle. There are channels inside the entire blade to run wires invisibly from the batteries and switch to the LEDs. The blade has three spots for 5mm LEDs, and the handle features plenty of empty space inside the "eye," so I simply used hot glue to secure some LEDs there as well. The book cover for the off-hand item can accommodate an A6-sized notebook when you trim a little from the corners to follow the round shape of the outer edge of the cover. It also features a single hole for a 5mm LED in the cover, although I decided not to use it myself but left it in the design anyway. If you don't place a real notebook inside, there's plenty of space for batteries between the cover; however, I didn't design places for those since I abandoned the LED idea for it myself. Painted using Citadel miniature paints and detailed with some faux leather once again. All files have been checked with Netfabb, rotated, pre-split, and are ready for printing. If you have a 20cmx20cm print bed, however, you may want to cut the upper blade once more to fit nicely.
