Blade MQx 180QX Motor Thrust Adaptor
thingiverse
UPDATE: I modified version 6 slightly to improve attachment to the motor mount. The updated design now allows using either a zip tie or a narrow strip of tape (~1/8") to keep it secure, especially upon landing. No other changes were made. This innovative little widget adds "motor dihedral" to each motor of a Blade MQX or 180QX quad, effectively pointing the thrust vector towards the center line of the quad. This provides enhanced stability and a bit of boost in forward flight. I got inspired by the DJI Inspire and Eric from Flitetest. The designed dihedral angle is 10deg, proven to work great after several flights. A helpful orange wedge is included in Solidworks pictures to facilitate printing and ease removal when it's no longer needed with some gentle prying. Instructions To assemble this part, print at a low infill of 10% for an optimal balance between strength and weight. Each printed widget weighs under 3gr. Handle the parts with care as they are a bit delicate. To make them more sturdy, consider printing at higher infill settings like 15-20%. However, some extra cleanup might be required. To attach it to the motor arms, first remove the cover from each arm, which has a weight of about 2gr. With careful installation and removal, there's minimal net gain or loss of overall quadcopter weight.
