Bladder Cancer Emerges as a Leading Health Concern: Origins and Early Detection Bladder cancer originates from cells within the bladder, a hollow muscular organ located in the lower abdominal region responsible for storing urine. This form of cancer predominantly develops from urothelial cells lining the interior of the bladder. Urothelial cells are also present in the kidneys and the tubes connecting them to the bladder, known as ureters. Although urothelial cancer can occur in the kidneys and ureters, it is significantly more common in the bladder. Fortunately, most cases of bladder cancer are diagnosed at an early stage when treatment options are highly effective. However, even after successful treatment, some bladder cancers may recur, necessitating regular follow-up tests for years following the initial diagnosis to monitor for potential recurrences.
