(BlackSpin - Remix) Graboid - 150g Antweight Grabber
thingiverse
This is a simplified remix of my other 150g spinner blackspin, https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2805613. Building and running this spinner is much easier than its more complex counterpart. I didn't achieve the results I wanted with it in competition, so I decided not to further develop this design. However, here are some tips to improve its performance: 1) Use a 1.5mm or larger diameter steel servo connection to ensure durability. I used a 0.5mm connection and it bent after a strong vertical hit. 2) Install a robust servo! The TowerPro SG90 Mini-Gear Micro Servo 9g (https://www.banggood.com/TowerPro-SG90-Mini-Gear-Micro-Servo-9g-For-RC-Airplane-Helicopter-p-1009914.html) is not sufficient. Instead, opt for the JX-PDI 6221MG 20KG Large Torque Digital Coreless Servo (https://www.banggood.com/JX-PDI-6221MG-20KG-Large-Torque-Digital-Coreless-Servo-For-RC-Model-p-973947.html), but be prepared to modify the design accordingly. 3) Use a sturdy servo arm, as the cheap plastic ones tend to snap easily. 4) Secure your servo arm with a screw! Mine didn't have a screw mount and kept coming loose, even when super glued on. Screw it down and apply locktight. 5) Attach a plastic scoop to the front edge (refer to Blackspin design for notes). 6) Install magnets in the front scoop and grab arm to hold metal bots (check your club rules regarding magnets and holding). In testing, this worked incredibly well, with no bots able to escape. However, I didn't use it in competition due to our club's rule on permanent holds. 7) Print the grab arm at 100% to ensure its strength can withstand active weapons. Enjoy!
