Blackout Hex battery protection
thingiverse
This part is intended to safely distribute load against a LiPo/LiFe battery in the event of a moderate to severe crash, primarily to prevent pinch point damage to cells that become trapped between risers. Designing this part changes the primary application intention of the carbon fiber anti vibration tray. Please see the pictured design; it utilizes directly tapped long length M3 fasteners, for which I used about 2cm M3 screws on both sides. I plan to use nylon on the bottom plate to prevent a stuck battery in case of swelling, as the M3 steel fasteners are VERY secure. This design can also be used for general payload protection, if not specifically for battery safety. I will upload some application images! Two versions will be posted: one without notches for arm fasteners in the rear, and one with. The pictures were taken after notching the prototype. Print Settings: Printer: Scalar Custom Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 15% Notes: A lightweight version has been added; it has less longitudinal coverage, intended for use with two velcro band straps and no base plate, only fasten to the primary carbon fiber body. Please print this version with support interface material! Print resolution is optional, but do not exceed a resolution of 0.4mm. Please print with a minimum wall thickness of 1.5mm. I am not using anti-vibration mounts in this application. The cage was designed for a Turnigy Nanotech 4s 3.3aH LiPo (Approximate dimensions 34x45x145mm).
