Blackbox 3D Printer
thingiverse
Blackbox is an open-source multitool printer that delivers high-quality prints with ease. Designed for daily model building and experimentation, this reliable printer excels in precision, speed, and feature richness. Its large build volume of 300x300mm can be utilized with up to five different materials, thanks to water-cooled exchangeable tool heads. The tools are cooled passively by the tool bank or the x-axis, while the X-Axis carries a direct-driven extruder for flexible materials. The Z-Axis is based on belts with a 1:10 pulley reduction, offering a fast and precise alternative to ball screws. To maintain a stable print area temperature, 3mm laser-cut acrylic sheets are used. All axes rely on linear rails, with the Y-Rail supported by the T-Slot frame and the X-Axis supported by a lightweight carbon square rod. The Blackbox printer is a key component of a flexible and autonomous small-scale production system that I've long envisioned. With its robust design and high-quality prints, it has become an essential tool for my daily model building and experimentation needs.
