Blackboard Transact unit (3)

This modular design caters to four essential requirements set by the challenge's statement. The concept of "layers" is applied, inspired by CAD and graphics programs, with layers representing different functional parts. Layer one comprises a POS unit with a versatile reading system (keypad, contactless RFID, and mag stripe reader) and communication interfaces for wired or wireless connections. A rechargeable battery powers the unit when detached, while a micro USB port enables communication when supported by the main unit. Layer two incorporates a thermal paper printer, connecting to the POS unit whether it's on the main unit or detached. Layer three features the main unit equipped with communication ports (RJ45, USB, and DC power supply), a 10-inch rotatable touch screen monitor, a built-in camera in the screen, and microphones/speakers in the base. A rising support can mount the main unit on a cash drawer, adaptable to various market cash drawer sizes. The POS unit and printer share similar attachment modes, independent of each other. The four layers can be combined based on specific use conditions. Condition one requires intensive use of all layers, suggesting dual mirror monitors and detached POS with a credit card reader and thermal printer for enhanced data security. In condition two (events or activities validation), the base unit with Layer three can rest on a desk or wall-mounted, using Layer one without Layer two or an embedded contactless RFID in the main base. Conditions three and four (copy machines and laundry machines) can utilize all layers, offering flexibility in monitor configurations (single or dual, rotating positions). Potential improvements include integrating the battery-charging module within the main support and optimizing the size based on PCB dimensions.
