The Blackboard Open Sesame Challenge design features a circular door with NFC technology at its core and an LED-lit touch pad around its edge. The touch pad lights up in four different colors, representing distinct actions: power (cyan), access granted (green), access denied (red), and number pad function (white). To avoid using outdated magnetic strips, a central button activates keypad mode for students without cards or phones; they enter a four-digit code. The design omits 'enter' and 'clear' buttons, as the device grants entry upon correct code input. If an incorrect digit is pressed, the device times out and flashes red before allowing another attempt.
