Black Hill Gate 1 (Oct 2007)
sketchfab
Triangular stone discovered on the grounds of The Stang plantation, located southwest of Barningham, County Durham. A chance find was made in October 2007 when the NADRAP team was looking for a spot to sit during their lunch break. The team noted that the triangular stone slopes downward toward the ground from north to south, with vertical sides facing northeast and east. Six cups of varying sizes and depths are located on the western and northern ends of the stone, with the largest cup being situated in the southwest corner, measuring 0.09 meters in diameter and 0.035 meters deep. This large cup may also feature a ring, but the poor lighting within the plantation made it difficult to confirm this detail. ERA record: https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=800 A digital model was created using a single stereo pair of images captured by NADRAP Team 5 in October 2007, approximately five minutes after the stone's discovery. The imagery is part of the NADRAP / ERA archive.
