From what was once a small armed band of brigands, an army would be built. At one point over seven thousand men strong, the Black Flag Army of Liu Yongfu became a private military force operating in Vietnam. The Black Flag Army was also one of the primary opponents of French Colonial forces during the Sino-French War.
