Black & Decker 20v Battery to Craftsman tool 14.4v
thingiverse
I had old Craftsman power tools. Unfortunate, the 14.4v NiCd rechargeable battery was not manufacture any more. So it is hard to find a replacement. I had other wireless power tool that use Black and Decker 20v Lithium battery which is reasonable price. ~$15 from Amason. So I am designing an adapter to plug my 20v Lithium battery to my old Craftsman tools. Hardware part needs: M3 Hex Socket Flat Head Cap Screws: 2x40mm, 2x35mm, 1x20mm 6 M3 nuts 2 20mm x 8mm Nickel strip 2 quick connect 2 18 gauges wire Steps: 1. Use the Nickel strips to wrap on the crafts electrol. There are 4 slots on each pole. The strip starting from the 2nd slot from top. Pushing 2mm out of slot 2 bend upward. The rest of the strip inside go upward to the top slot. Bend the strip on the top outward and wrap it outside to the 3rd slot passed slot 2. Push the strip into slot 3. So it will have a smooth flat surface from top slot to the 3rd slot. The strip inside slot 3 and bend downward to bottom and wrap outward bend it upward to slot 4. Bend it the end into slot 4. Cut out the extra strip to make it tip fit inside slot 4. The 2nd pole will be wrap the same way. 2. Use a heat gun to remove the plastic on the quick connects. Connect the 18 gauges wire on the quick connect. Cramp the wire flat and then solder them. 3. Push the quick connects to the B & D electrol. 4. Mount the B&D electrol print with the cover plat to the B & D adapter with 40mm M3 screw and nuts. 5. Solder the wires to the nickel strip on craft's electrol. check and make sure solder on the proper strip (Red should be +) 6. Push the craft's electrol to the crafts battery upper. Use 20mm screw to mount it. 7. Use 2 x 35mm screw to mount the crafts batter upper to the B & D adapter. Note: The Craftsman tool original battery is 14.4v and the B & D battery is 20v. So the tool will have 30% increase on power. This extra power could damage the tool. I tried it on wireless drill, vaccum and circular saw. It seems fine. But please do it in caution and take the risk yourself!
