Black Clover Danma no Tsurugi Bastard Sword

The first of Asta's swords in his journey to become the Magic Emperor! Danma no Tsurugi! Asta's Demon Slayer is a replica I made as authentic as possible for a 3 foot threaded rod. Coincidentally, it matches Asta's age in the anime almost perfectly. If you're familiar with this, you know exactly what I'm talking about. For those who don't know, Asta is the main character from the Black Clover anime series set in a world where magic reigns supreme. In this world, Asta was born without the ability to use magic but obtained a grimoire that gives him an incredible sword capable of nullifying any magic it comes into contact with! This sword is designed to fit around hardware purchased from my local Orange Box hardware store. I used 1/4"x20 coupling nuts and a 3 foot 1/4"x20 threaded rod to hold all the pieces together. Between each segment, there's one of the coupling nuts paired with a pair of 5/16" tube pieces to keep the sword from rotating out of alignment. Tubes provide stability without adding weight, making them ideal for this project. The blade itself is divided into 7 segments to reduce print time. I designed it to be printed on a CR-10 with a larger print bed. At 100%, the sword measures just over 41" long and 9" wide. It's quite large, but sturdy enough to swing around without falling apart. I printed it at 15% infill, which provides a great balance of strength and lightness. Initially, I tried 25% infill, but it was too heavy for each segment. Now, it can withstand gentle swings and light taps without showing any signs of weakness.
